Of course, it's must earlier in LA than in other places I've lived. In New York, especially Buffalo, where I lived for 5 years when I was in graduate school and when I first got into Scientology at the Church of Scientology of Buffalo when it was still a mission (Scientology missions are smaller that full-fledged Scientology churches).

In fact, we returned to Daylight Savings Time two weeks ago, and then last weekend we celebrated L. Ron Hubbard's birthday in LA (it was celebrated this past weekend at most other Scientology churches)

Living in LA we just don't have the seasonal changes I was so used to living in the North East. There is was pretty obvious what time of year it was. Here, not so.

So I've come to date my seasons by other means. For example, with the L. Ron Hubbard Birthday event always falling the first weekend after March 13th (his actual birthday) that's how I date Spring.

Summer is when we go to the Maiden Voyage events (the anniverary of the Maiden Voyage of the Freewinds, where the highest level of Scientology spiritual counseling is offered).

Fall is a bit rougher, but as I have a Fall birthday, and my sister's birthday is the first week of October, that's easy to remember.

And of course Winter is easy with Christmas blared on every street corner.

Speaking of the March 13th event - L. Ron Hubbard's birthday - it was a total blockbuster this time. Of course David Miscavige's speeches blew me away as usual. (David Miscavige almost always MCs these events and it's always an inspiration listening to him. This year Mr. Miscavige was so pumped! And so was I when the event was over.

It is so exciting seeing how far we've come over the past year. Brilliant!
