ABLE Exhibit in Toronto
07.26.06 (7:31 pm)   [edit]
MT with news on the ABLE exhibit in Toronto (ABLE stands for Association for Better Living and Education.

Today I volunteered for an ABLE (See my post about ABLE for more information) Canada Exhibit event at the Metro Toronto Convention Center. The evening was presented by some politicians and attended by people from around the community (artists, businessmen, Scientologists and others.) All were welcome of course, ABLE is completely secular and open to all people no matter what religion, Scientologist or not. In fact I met a Christian minister and a Hindu pandit at the event.

The "star" of the show was Ms. Jenna Elfman, you may remember her from such movies as "Keeping The Faith" and "EdTV." but she is most famous for playing the free-spirited Dharma on the sitcom "Dharma and Greg." Let me tell you, Jenna is tall, about 5 feet 10 inches. I myself am 6 foot 5 inches so she didn't have to look up much. Other then her beauty (which was the real star of the show as she is more beautiful in real life then she is on screen, which is rare for actresses), was her dedication and friendiness. She expressed only concern and ompassion in her speach which opened the event. no ego or arrogance like you gets from other actors. I had the pleasure to talk with Jenna for about 3 or 4 minutes but it seemed longer as the entire time she was looking directly into my eyes and paid attention to every word I said. I was also pretty shy, did I mention how hot she is? I told her about my future plans and she was really supportive of them even though we are total strangers. The best thing was I felt like she was genuine and not fake or anything. She was just a very friendly person and I have met a few actors in my day as I used to work for a film company, so it is true that even big name stars are can be very friendly.

Why Religion4Life
07.26.06 (6:44 pm)   [edit]
Someone e-mailed me asking me why I called my blog religion4life.

Before I found Scientology (many years ago now) I was really searching for a way of life, not a belief system. I had hopes I'd find this in traditional religions, which I checked out. But I'm a very funny mix of practical on the one hand, yet emotional and artistic. And it had to fit all three and more for me. It also had to help me evolve toward a better, happier, more ethical state. A lot to ask of a religion.

A friend told me about Scientology. He actually gave me a copy of the Dianetics book. I read it and knew that this was IT.

Fortunately I was right, as time has borne out. There weren't many Scientologists back then. There are far more now. And it has been a religion for life - not just that I've adopted it for a lifetime, but that it is all about living, and living well, and really helping the people you care about.

So it is a religion you can USE for life.

I'm reminded of what David Miscavige, Chairman of the Board of Religious Technology Center, said a few years ago at Celebrity Centre International:

The answer to this planet’s problems will not be found in the “material.” Of this there can be no question. For if those solutions can’t prevent war nation to nation, how then can it be expected to answer questions like “love,” “happiness” or “peace of mind?” So, we can’t expect the answer to be found in chemicals. Not unless one buys into a synthesized utopia, or a “Brave New World,” with a perfect pleasure drug. Yet that is precisely what we see in the world today, with multi-million dollar conglomerates providing a cornucopia of new pills as a panacea to all ills — making the pharmaceutical industry the most profitable business on the planet — more than banking, high finance, oil or computers. Common sense tells us it’s the wrong answer.

One of my Favorite Blogs
07.11.06 (10:22 pm)   [edit]
One of my favorite new blogs to follows in Aerospacebob.

Bob describes himself as "Graduate of Stanford University. Nearly 30 years of experience in research and development, including solar energy R&D, information system development, and space exploration missions. Church of Scientology member for over 30 years. Expert in Dianetics and in Scientology auditing." and from his description of Scientology in this posting, I believe this is true.
