Very nice blog.

Dr. Brothers Discovers....
04.23.06 (11:16 pm)   [edit]
This in from Dr. Joyce:

"A number of studies have been done recently that indicate that while a great deal of happiness comes from our genes, religious people are happier than non-religious people."

In the Scientology religion we have the concept of "the 8 Dynamics" as a central principle that forms a basis of what Scientologists DO as well as what we believe.

On the Scientolgy Theology web site there is a description this concept:

"One fundamental and unifying factor that runs throughout Scientology’s view of the universe is that the primary goal of all life forms – including the thetan—is towards infinite survival. The urge is so powerful and so universal that it is known as the "dynamic principle of existence." This dynamic principle of existence is itself divided into eight distinct parts, called the "eight dynamics," each representing one aspect of the survival dynamic. Viewed as concentric circles expanding outward from a common center, the eight dynamics represent an increasing awareness of and participation in all of life’s elements. These dynamics represent Scientology’s view of the cosmos."

These dymamics include the urge to survive through spirits and all things spiritual.

To the degree that a man or woman is creating and surviving all of his/her dynamics, to that degree he or she will be happy.

Two Rules for Happy Living
04.22.06 (6:35 pm)   [edit]
Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard presented a very workable guideline in his "Two rules for happy living":

1. Be able to experience anything.
2. Cause only those things which others are able to experience easily.
The other day I was really upset with a friend. She had said something that I really felt was out of line. But I remembered these two rules and gave it a try.

I definitely was violating the first rule - I wasn't willing to experience this at all. So I just tried it out and decided - Okay. I can take this.

A few minutes later the whole incident had blown over. Without my doing something I would have regretted (because in retrospect, what she had said was really not that bad at all. I realized I'd just taken it the wrong way, and reacting would have been absolutely the wrong thing to do.)

There's an excellent DVD which is a presentation by Mr. David Miscavige, Chairman of the Board of Religious Technology Center, on the nature, activities, beliefs and practices of the Scientology religion.

The presentation by Mr. Miscavige was filmed at the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre International, where it was presented.

I have shown this presentation to a number of people who had questions about Scientology and in each case they got a much greater understanding of the subject.

I was very happy to see that excerpts from this speech were put online on the Religious Technology Center web site.  It came be accessed here:

David Miscavige: Presentation - This is Scientology
I agree. I have been a Scientologist for a long time, but watching that DVD tied a lot of things together for me. I have been active in a number of the activities Mr. Miscavige mentioned, such as the Scientology Volunteer Ministers program and the anti-drug campaign and am very proud of the work I'd done. It was good to hear how Mr. Miscavige described these programs and the impact they are having.

New Scientology Churches
04.04.06 (11:36 pm)   [edit]
Over the past few years several new Scientology churches have opened, and more are planned to open soon.

In his briefing to those attending the annual anniversary gala at Celebrity Centre International, Mr. David Miscavige explained the social mission of the Scientology religion and the role our churches play in accomplishing this.

Some of the new churches opened were the Church of Scientology of San Francisco where Mr. Miscavige gave the keynote address, and the Church of Scientology of New York.

For me, the New York Church's grand opening was particularly moving. The work of New York Scientologists at Ground Zero in 2001 has inspired an entirely new level of dedication by Scientologists around the world. It was following the heroism of these Scientology Volunteer Ministers that Mr. Miscavige announced that the International Association of Scientologists was going to completely renovate their church building. And what an incredible church it is!
