Human Rights at the International Association of Scientologists Anniversary Celebration
10.31.05 (6:25 pm) [edit]
According to a post on the Motime Human Rights blog this year's International Association of Scientologists event featured human rights activists.
I heard from some of my friends who attended the event that it was spectacular.
Mr. David Miscavige was the master of ceremonies and I always love to hear him make presentations as he has a way of bringing the most complex issues into a very sharp focus, and aligning them with what I see as the real important things in life - helping others, responsibility and spiritual freedom.
There are International Scientology events throughout the year:
New Years in January The celebration of the birth of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard on March 13th The anniversary of the publication of Dianetics, the Modern Science of Mental Health on May 9th The anniversary of the launch of the Freewinds Motor Vessel, (marking a milestone in spiritual freedom with the release of the highest level of spiritual counseling now available) on June 6th Auditors Day in mid September The anniversary of the founding of the International Association of Scientologists -- celebrated toward the end of October.
I wouldn't miss these events. They are totally inspirational.

Youth for Human Rights In Oregon
10.04.05 (11:04 am) [edit]
(I-Newswire) - Portland, OR: Youth for Human Rights International, Portland chapter is holding its first summit on Saturday, October 8, to address the hunger problem in Portland as a violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
According to Clark Balcom, Portland chapter director for Youth for Human Rights International, “The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, created by the United Nations in 1948, presents numerous ideas that are basic human rights. Having a bed and food is considered a basic human right, and that we are all responsible for ensuring such rights are available for everyone. Our summit is designed to educate Portlanders about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights mandate that food and a bed be ensured.”
The Youth for Human Rights International Summit will have Dr. Catherine Thomasson of Physicians for Social Responsibility and John Elizadle, director for the North East Emergency Food Program, speaking.
To attend the summit requires the donation of two cans of food which will be given to the Northeast Emergency Food Program. The summit will be Saturday, October 8, at the Church of Scientology of Portland, 709, SW Salmon, from 9 AM until noon in downtown Portland.
Human rights is a very basic aspect of Scientology beliefs.
The Creed of the Church of Scientology begins with the following statement: Creed of the Church of Scientology

Underwriting charity
10.04.05 (10:51 am) [edit]
The Houston Chronicle reports:
"Religious organizations of all faiths have long been essential to efforts to alleviate suffering in the aftermath of natural disasters in the United States. Up to now, those campaigns have been funded by charitable contributions from congregation members as well as the resources of the faith-based organizations themselves.
"In the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the Bush administration has embarked on a course that could permanently change the nature of nongovernment disaster relief. This week Federal Emergency Management Agency officials announced that religious organizations would be eligible for payments f"rom the government if they operated relief facilities in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, which declared emergencies during Hurricane Katrina. According to FEMA guidelines, the government would cover rent, supplies and even volunteer labor provided by private groups."
I know for me church about 1000 Scientology Volunteer Ministers took off work to help out for from several days to two weeks each to help provide relief for emergency response personnel and persons displaced and left homeless by the hurricanes.
